News about acts of violence and hate, such as the tragedy that occurred recently in New Zealand, can cause our children to experience heightened fear, anxiety, and confusion as they try to understand events going on in our world. Adult reactions to all of these events may also compound the anxiety our children express in different ways.
We want you to know that SFUSD school social workers, counselors, nurses, and other support staff have been provided with resources and training to support individual students and classrooms when dealing with fear and anxiety. We have included links to some of these resources below that you may find useful in supporting your child in times of stress and worry.
