National School Counseling Week 2021 is Feb. 1-5, 2021, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
Here at the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), we know that school counselors are an essential part of the school community. School counselors work with students in the areas of academic, social/emotional, and college/career planning. School counselors are advocates for students and SFUSD recognizes the value in the services provided to students and families.
SFUSD has a central office, the Office of Counseling and Post-Secondary Success, that advocates to bring the work that our 140 site school counselors do everyday to the forefront, and empowers counselors to lead their work and become more visible in their school communities.
